Vice President of Technical Services

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or a related technical discipline). Professional Experience: Extensive progressive engineering leadership experience within a high-speed, automated CPG, food/beverage, or process manufacturing environment. Executive Tenure: Significant senior leadership experience overseeing multi-disciplinary engineering, maintenance, and automation teams. Systems Proficiency: Deep hands-on familiarity with enterprise CMMS platforms, SCADA/PLC platforms, and industrial controls integration. Regulatory Knowledge: Applied knowledge of regulatory compliance, environmental safety, quality management systems, and safety standards (HACCP, GMP, OSHA). The Vice President of Technical Services serves as the primary plant technical executive leading asset reliability, automation, and core plant engineering operations at a large, high-throughput manufacturing facility. Reporting to executive leadership, this role is responsible for the strategy, execution, and ongoing evolution of asset maintenance, digital manufacturing systems, and capital project execution. We're looking for someone with a proven track record of turning reactive maintenance teams into predictive, reliability-centered operations and advancing state-of-the-art automation and smart factory technologies. This executive will cultivate a culture of uncompromising safety, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional accountability. Key Operational Pillars Executive Leadership & Strategic Vision Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the executive technical voice on site leadership panels; align technical services priorities with Operations, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain objectives. Long-Term Roadmap: Formulate and execute a multi-year technical roadmap encompassing capital investments, smart factory adoption, workforce upskilling, and asset life-cycle strategies. CapEx & Fiscal Governance: Own the site engineering capital budget. Author rigorous business cases, manage project spend, optimize capital deployment, and report ROI directly to executive leadership. Talent Development: Direct, mentor, and elevate engineering managers, reliability specialists, and frontline technical teams, establishing clear succession pipelines and technical career tracks. Maintenance & Asset Reliability (RCM) Predictive Excellence: Establish and institutionalize a best-in-class Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) framework, accelerating the site’s transition from reactive maintenance to condition-based, predictive practices. Systems & Data Optimization: Drive enterprise CMMS utilization to maximize asset uptime, extend equipment life cycles, and eliminate root causes of unplanned downtime. Performance Accountability: Define, monitor, and enforce core reliability metrics (OEE, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance) through real-time dashboards and structured continuous improvement reviews. MRO & Spare Parts Strategy: Oversee technical storeroom operations, spare parts optimization, and strategic vendor/contractor agreements to balance cost control with inventory availability. Automation, Controls & Digital Manufacturing Controls Strategy: Direct and modernize site-wide industrial automation architecture, including PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, robotics, and advanced process control loops. Throughput & Efficiency: Identify and execute automation initiatives that streamline production throughput, improve consistency, minimize manual handling, and strengthen product traceability. Governance & Cybersecurity: Establish guidelines for PLC programming, automation change control, and OT network architecture in close alignment with enterprise IT security standards. Next-Gen Innovation: Pilot and scale smart manufacturing applications, including IoT sensors, machine-learning analytics, and advanced predictive diagnostic tools. Operational Support & Process Improvement Operational Readiness: Partner with R&D, Quality, and Operations teams to execute seamless new product introductions, technology transfers, process validations, and line trials. Lean Leadership: Sponsor high-impact Lean, Six Sigma, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) pillars across the technical organization to systematically reduce waste and process variation. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full operational readiness and compliance with federal, state, and environmental safety regulations (FDA, OSHA, HACCP, SQF, and GMP standards).
