Women's Basketball Athletic Trainer

Overview Xavier University is seeking an Athletic Trainer for the Women’s Basketball team. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the care, prevention, and rehabilitation of all athletic-related injuries to Xavier University student-athletes, following Xavier, NCAA, and State of Ohio Board guidelines. The role supports student-athlete health, injury referral, and coordination with team physicians, healthcare providers, and campus resources. This description reflects general responsibilities and requirements for the position. Responsibilities Provide care, prevention, and rehabilitation of all athletic-related injuries for Xavier University student-athletes, under the direction of the team physician and the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine. Oversee rehabilitation and progress of injured athletes; refer to health services including counseling as needed. Collaborate with external providers (e.g., Beacon Orthopedics, TriHealth) and Xavier departments (Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support, etc.) to support student athletes. Maintain weekly injury reports and coordinate with relevant parties; manage team sport coverage for Women’s Basketball and other assigned events, including attendance at practices, competitions, conference championships, and other tournaments. Provide and document a range of medical techniques (e.g., dry needling, Graston technique, IV solutions) as required. Oversee daily athletic training room operations, including exercise rehabilitation programs, medical record keeping, supplies management, inventory, and budgeting; perform yearly purchase requests as directed. Assist with on-site drug education, safety training, data monitoring, and day-to-day oversight of the Training Room Pharmacy. Supervise and mentor Student Athletic Trainers: assignments, training, evaluation, and coordination with Clinical Coordinator for annual in-service training. Qualifications 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or Master’s degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program required Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC) or eligible to obtain certification Current state athletic training license (Ohio) or eligible for licensure Professional-level CPR/AED certification Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Application Process Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter and resume on Xavier University’s website.
