Lead Press Operator

Summary:

A Lead Press Operator maintains and applies skills from previous levels and is responsible for overall production on the assigned shift. This includes reviewing layouts, verifying circulation numbers, ensuring paperwork is complete, managing quality control, and delegating job responsibilities to the press crew. The Lead enforces pressroom S.O.P.’s and maintains open communication with the plate room and mailroom.

What you will do:

• Operate the press and complete all production assigned to the shift

• Direct workflow and delegate job duties of other Pressman employees

• Confirm job configurations, run orders, and circulation orders

• Complete all paperwork related to nightly production

• Responsible for the quality of all printed products on the assigned shift

• Communicate any problems, changes, or equipment issues to other departments and through proper channels

• Make ready the press for the next shift

• Train for and obtain a Forklift Certification

What you will bring:

• Proven and sustained high performance in the Press Operator II role for 3-5 years, or equivalent work experience

• Requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills

• Must demonstrate an effective general understanding of the entire newspaper production process

• Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects

Benefits and Compensation:

The hourly range is $24.00 - $25.00 + one time sign on bonus. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
