Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Locate Technician to join our team in Linn, MO. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities

• Respond to locate requests and accurately identify underground utilities including gas, water, electric, and telecommunications lines.
• Use specialized equipment such as ground-penetrating radar, electromagnetic locators, and GPS devices to detect and mark utility lines.
• Mark utility locations clearly and accurately using paint, flags, or stakes according to industry standards and local regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of locate activities, including maps, reports, and documentation of marked areas.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and property owners to coordinate locate activities and ensure safety.
• Follow all safety protocols and comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to underground utility locating.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of locating equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and utility drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Work Environment

This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and may require walking on uneven terrain. The Locate Technician will often work independently and must be able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
