Education:

Requires a paralegal certificate, JD, or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed. Alternatively, one year of legal training or legal experience, or at least two years of college education, may substitute for the paralegal certificate.

Required Skills:

• At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or related project experience is required.
• Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation skills for cite-checking legal motions and memoranda.
• Proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw for performing basic legal research.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
• Basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
• Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under pressure.

Preferred Skills:

• Trial experience is highly valued.
• Automated litigation support experience is beneficial.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

• Compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for attorneys in discovery and preparation of legal documents.
• Summarize depositions and other transcripts, maintain case files, and perform simple legal research.
• Index, track, and control document discovery and trial exhibits.
• Assist attorneys in courtroom settings.
• Review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines.
• Provide litigative case management and organize cases for court presentation.
• Serve as a contact person for assigned cases, providing information and assistance on procedural issues.
• Arrange travel logistics and prepare necessary travel documentation.
• Produce legal documents, information, exhibits, or witnesses for court proceedings.
• Assist in preparing a wide range of visual materials for trial exhibits.
• Perform administrative duties in support of assigned attorneys, involving automation support or other administrative areas.
• Perform data searches, report design, and data retrieval assignments using established databases.
• Open, maintain, and close case files, ensuring timely notification and information retrieval for the client agency.
• Establish and update databases to track case receipt, deadlines, and status, keeping attorneys informed.
• Monitor case progress and initiate actions to meet deadlines.
• Maintain case files and related materials in an accessible filing system.
• Examine, prepare, and process a variety of legal documents.
• Maintain attorney and court calendars, scheduling reporters, witnesses, and conferences as required.
