Medical Coder (Edit and Charge Review Focus)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Medical Coder (Edit and Charge Review Focus) based in the United States.

This fully remote role focuses on ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient charge capture across obstetric and gynecological services.
You will review clinician-entered charge suggestions, resolve coding edits, and validate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
The position plays an important role in supporting revenue cycle accuracy while maintaining high standards of documentation and regulatory compliance.
Rather than routine chart abstraction, the role emphasizes coding validation, edit resolution, and identifying discrepancies or improvement opportunities.
You will work in a high-volume environment requiring strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and independent problem-solving.

Accountabilities:

• Review and validate clinician-entered charge suggestions for obstetric and gynecological services, ensuring accurate assignment and sequencing of diagnoses and procedures.
• Apply ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines, CPT guidance, physician-at-teaching-hospital rules, and Evaluation and Management documentation requirements.
• Analyze and resolve coding edits, charge-entry errors, and discrepancies identified during coding review.
• Review CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding and make appropriate corrections based on clinical documentation and applicable coding requirements.
• Support charge capture and revenue cycle management processes by ensuring coding accuracy and timely resolution of coding queues.
• Interpret regulatory requirements, payer rules, and coding directives and apply them appropriately to coding decisions.
• Report and analyze coding errors, trends, and findings and prepare related reports using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Maintain accurate records and handle confidential healthcare information in accordance with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.
• Work effectively with coding, clinical, billing, and administrative stakeholders to resolve issues and support quality outcomes.
• Manage a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail.
• Independently prioritize competing responsibilities, troubleshoot problems, and meet established deadlines.
• Use relevant systems and tools, including eBridge, Putty, Lyra, Microsoft 365, and Excel.
• Maintain professional, ethical, service-oriented conduct and support organizational values.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• Current AAPC coding certification is required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of medical coding principles, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and Evaluation and Management documentation requirements.
• Experience with billing, insurance collections, insurance follow-up, charge entry, and/or revenue cycle management.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve charge-entry and coding errors.
• Strong understanding of clinical terminology, disease processes, and the ability to interpret clinical documentation accurately.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements as they relate to the revenue cycle and handling confidential healthcare information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including moderate-to-advanced Excel skills and the ability to prepare reports.
• Ability to work with coding, revenue cycle, and related software systems; experience with eBridge, Putty, and Lyra is beneficial.
• Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with physicians and internal personnel.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems with limited supervision.
• Comfortable working in a high-volume environment while consistently producing accurate, quality work.
• Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.

• Hourly compensation: $21.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience.
