CORRECTIONAL PROBATION SENIOR OFFICER - 70007464 Internal promotional opportunity for current FDC employees only. The position is compensated according to current pay procedures. Location: TAVARES, FL, 32278 Responsibilities The incumbent supervises, surveils, and maintains a specialized caseload of youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community controlees, pre‑trial intervention offenders, offender releases, or any combination thereof. Duties may include intake officer, court liaison officer, trainer, electronic monitoring device installer, and supervisory roles over probation officers at a probation and restitution center or residential treatment facility. Encourages offender compliance through guidance, goal setting, monitoring, and community supervision. Conducts field and office visits, surveillance contacts, telephone contacts, and electronic methods to ensure compliance with conditions of supervision and to provide assistance. Demonstrates sensitivity to public, victim, and stakeholder needs and takes prompt action as required. Assesses offender needs, treatment options, and supervision objectives; refines structured treatment programs and records compliance with educational, counseling, social services, vocational training, substance abuse plans. Utilizes information management to develop offender payment plans and enforces compliance. Maintains electronic and hard‑copy case records, documents background, legal history, treatment, and progress. Takes digitized photographs for public‑service placement. Conducts pre‑sentence, pre‑trial, post‑sentence, interstate compact, sentencing guideline investigations; recommends dispositions to authorities regarding supervision, revocation, diversion, or incarceration. Represents the department in hearings and proceedings before sentencing or releasing authorities; reports non‑compliance and prepares required violation reports. Maintains liaison with judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, and other criminal‑justice representatives; develops local law‑enforcement partnerships. Conducts individual and group counseling, interviews offenders, and monitors drug/alcohol use as directed. Provides contact with resources for public‑service placements; conducts searches and arrests of offenders; installs and maintains electronic monitoring equipment and interprets data. Handles administrative duties, assists supervisors, participates in task forces to refine practices, delivers training, and may serve as a day‑to‑day training officer. Assesses and assists in identifying offender needs, treatment options, and supervision objectives; establishes and records structured treatment programs, client management classifications, pre‑trial contracts and other programs designed to enhance offender improvement in education, counseling, social services, health education, vocational training, substance abuse, and other areas of need. Utilizes information management to develop offender payment plans and enforces compliance; maintains case records, documents status, and takes digitized photographs for placement on the web site. Conducts pre‑sentence, pre‑trial, post‑sentence, interstate compact, sentencing guideline and other required investigations; makes recommendations on dispositions. Attends hearings and provides witness testimony; reports non‑compliance; prepares violation reports and forwards them to authorities. Maintains liaison with judicial, prosecutorial, public‑defender, law‑enforcement, treatment, non‑profit, and governmental agencies; fosters public safety through local law‑enforcement partnerships. Conducts counseling, interviews offenders, monitors substance use, develops contact for placement in public‑service assignments. Conducts searches, arrests, installs equipment, interprets data, handles admin duties, assists supervisors, serves on teams, delivers training, and may act as a training officer. Essential/Entry‑Level KSA's Ability to work independently and/or under stressful conditions. Ability to communicate effectively. Full Performance Level KSA's Knowledge of techniques for advising, interviewing, and counseling. Ability to review and analyze data. Ability to assist offenders in solving problems. Ability to conduct investigations. Ability to apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements Certified in accordance with Florida Statutes 943.13. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Valid driver’s license required for all correctional probation officer classes.
