As a Lead Construction Manager, you will be responsible for coordination and monitoring of overall field construction administration activities and/or management engineering services on multiple projects of a diverse nature. You will ensure that construction projects are completed in compliance with the drawings and specifications, within budget, and on schedule. You will typically run projects of $10M or greater in construction value and play a key role in mega project pursuits. What You'll Do Develop the project scope and fee quotation and assist in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). Coordinate project activities, establish priorities, and staff jobs. Prepare Summary Inspection Reports of daily activities. Monitor contractor progress and compare it with the reviewed progress schedule. Resolve technical field issues, and coordinate with architects and engineers for timely and accurate responses to requests for information. Oversee project controls, including checking contractor controls, coordinating schedules, and reviewing contractor schedules. Review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications. Develop strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA). Lead the development and execution of the project management plan. Supervise and mentor the team to meet overall project objectives. Identify and resolve non‑compliant work. Interpret and enforce contract plans and specifications. Provide guidance on change order requests, develop estimates, negotiate costs, and write change orders. Provide cost control and quality control within the discipline. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mini‑mega and mega projects in accordance with HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Assist the project team and marketing resources in preparing proposal and presentation materials. Lead proposal development and presentation for strategic projects to the client and general presentations within the industry and community. May be responsible for recruiting, hiring, development, and retention of construction staff, including development of plans for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Need Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience; In lieu of education, 14 years of relevant experience. What You'll Bring Experience winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4‑4‑4 projects (on‑time, on‑budget, quality, client satisfaction) on multi‑disciplined projects. Identify and manage risks and changes with guidance from more experienced staff. Lead a team on mid‑sized and/or moderately complex projects inside and outside of HNTB using sub‑consultants. Use system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver mid‑sized and/or moderately complex projects. Implement HNTB sophisticated processes with minimal assistance from the Office Management Team. Serve as the lead interface with the client on moderately complex projects. Develop successors to work with the same client on other work. What We Prefer 18 years of relevant experience. In lieu of education, 20 years of relevant experience. Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) LevelIII.
