CytotechnologistLabcorp is seeking a Cytotechnologist to join our team at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday with (8a - 4:30p) & rotating half Saturdays (8am - 12:00p)Job ResponsibilitiesScreen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditionsScreening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slidesPerform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and policiesEnsure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelinesMaintain absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of resultsAssist with Fine Needle AspirationsMeet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedureFinalize testing results into the computer in an accurate and timely mannerProvide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as neededComply with all safety, infection control and HIPAA policiesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Cytology Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical TechnologyCompletion of a Cytology programASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) CertificationTN state Cytotechnologist licensePreferred QualificationsMasters' degree in Cytology3 months or more of Cytology experienceThinPrep and SurePath certificationsAdditional Job StandardsAble to pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency testDemonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniquesAutomated and non-automated testing experienceUnderstanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and proceduresExperience in a high volume clinical laboratory environmentAbility to work independently and within a team environmentProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systemsHigh level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsAbility to handle the physical requirements of the positionAble to pass a standardized color blindness testFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needsAt Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
