Senior Data Architect

Business need

The team needs an experienced data architecture professional who can review and rationalize the existing reporting and data structure rather than focusing only on building new pipelines.

This person will strengthen the analytics foundation, improve reporting reliability, make the data model and data processes more efficient, and support better decision-making across the business. The role will assess the current environment, identify redundancies and inefficiencies, standardize definitions and reusable patterns, and improve how data is modeled, transformed, documented, and delivered.

First 3 6 month priorities

• Assess the current reporting, data-model, and data-platform structure.
• Identify the highest-priority architecture and process improvements.
• Improve the scalability, consistency, performance, and reliability of reporting systems.
• Optimize the Snowflake data warehouse and related data structures.
• Improve transformation workflows using dbt or an equivalent tool.
• Establish or improve architecture standards, documentation, governance, and reusable patterns.
• Build strong relationships with technical teams and business leaders.
• Create a roadmap for longer-term improvements to reporting, data modeling, and architecture.

Required qualifications

• Seven or more years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, enterprise data platforms, BI architecture, or a related field.
• Strong conceptual, logical, dimensional, and enterprise-level data-modeling skills.
• Experience reviewing and improving existing reporting or data architecture.
• Ability to identify inefficiencies, duplication, inconsistent definitions, and opportunities for simplification.
• Strong communication skills with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience leading architecture reviews, standards, governance, mentoring, or cross-functional initiatives.
• Ability to lead and influence without relying only on formal authority.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with Snowflake or another modern cloud data warehouse.
• Experience with dbt or an equivalent transformation tool.
• Experience improving BI reporting environments and data pipelines.
• Experience with AI-assisted development or analytics workflows.
• Experience maintaining technical documentation, data definitions, data lineage, and architecture decisions.
• Experience working as a senior individual contributor or in a light-leadership role.
