Supervising Accountant/Auditor

Overview The County of El Dorado is seeking a Supervising Accountant/Auditor to lead a team of accountants and fiscal staff within the Health and Human Services Agency. The position will oversee accounting and reporting functions, conduct internal audits, and ensure compliance with county and state regulations. Responsibilities Review and analyze departmental and county accounting procedures for conformance with laws, regulations, and accepted accounting practices; recommend improvements. Prepare and oversee audits, financial statements, and fiscal reports. Review accounting documents to ensure accuracy and make correcting entries. Examine supporting documentation to confirm proper authorization and compliance with agreements, contracts, and regulations. Maintain control and subsidiary accounting records for various transactions and accounts. Supervise internal auditing staff; plan, schedule, and assign work. Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluation of staff. Qualifications Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a closely related field. Either two years of internal auditing experience at a level equivalent to County Class Accountant/Auditor, or three years of journey‑level accounting experience at a level equivalent to County Class Accountant II. Licenses and Credentials: Valid California or Nevada driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications if applicable.
