Senior Manager of Professional Development

POSITION SUMMARYThe Senior Manager of Professional Development is responsible for the development, delivery, and growth of ASHRAE continuing education programs serving the HVAC&R industry. This position is responsible for identifying educational market needs, overseeing the creation and delivery of high-quality learning experiences, and ensuring programs meet organizational, financial, and customer satisfaction objectives. Programs may include instructor-led training in classroom and virtual environments, online and on-demand learning products, certification preparation programs, and self-study educational resources. The Senior Manager collaborates across departments, manages staff and external resources, and drives initiatives that expand educational offerings while increasing revenue and member value. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Identify and assess industry needs and emerging trends for professional development, continuing education, and workforce training. Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of ASHRAE continuing education courses and programs, including the development and communication of compelling value propositions to support marketing and promotional requirements.Drive revenue growth by identifying and pursuing new educational and professional development opportunities that increase program participation and net income.Monitor and evaluate marketing and promotional efforts with marketing staff to maximize program visibility and performance.Manage relationships with subject matter experts, consultants, instructors, vendors, and other external partners involved in content development and program delivery.Establish performance metrics and evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback, learning outcomes, financial results, and operational efficiencies; implement improvements as needed.Collaborate with the Certification section to support systems and processes for tracking, maintaining, and auditing professional development hours (PDHs), continuing education units (CEUs), and certification-related requirements.Develop educational programs and resources that support candidates pursuing ASHRAE certifications and maintaining their credentials.Develop annual budgets, revenue targets, and fiscal objectives for professional development programs and educational products; monitor and manage financial performance against established goals.Work collaboratively with internal departments-including Publishing Services, Marketing, Communications, Customer Service, Meetings, Accounting, and Information Technology- to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement in course promotions and delivery.Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership regarding program performance, strategic opportunities, and operational improvements.Supervise, mentor, and motivate assigned staff, ensuring that Society policies are followed and objectives determined by the Department Director are achieved.Serve as the primary staff liaison to the ASHRAE Training and Education Committee (TEC), providing administrative support, strategic guidance, and implementation of committee initiatives.Undertake other duties and special projects as assigned by the Department Director. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating continuing education programs Minimum of three (3) years of experience in association management.Experience managing budgets, educational products, projects, and cross-functional initiatives. Work Schedule and On-Site Attendance RequirementsThis position requires the employee to work on-site in the office three days per regularly scheduled workweek, with Wednesday as a mandatory in-office day. The employee is also expected to be available and working during the organization's core business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, including on scheduled in-office days. The Managing Director will establish the specific in-office days and work schedule based on business and operational needs.These attendance and scheduling requirements are job-related and support collaboration, communication, service delivery, and the performance of the position's essential functions.
