Job Summary The Demolition Superintendent is a key leader responsible for overseeing and executing complex demolition projects from planning through completion. This role directs all on‑site operations, including crews, equipment, subcontractors, permitting, and daily field activities, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals. Total Compensation $108,000.00 to $193,500.00 annually Essential Duties and Responsibilities Obtain and implement deep working knowledge of assigned projects, including specifications, scope requirements, and contingencies. Organize and schedule personnel and equipment allocation for multiple crews and sites. Perform construction activities including preparation, operation and closing of job site, and proper testing and QC of work completed. Assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and make timely decisions best for the organization. Proactively address, problem‑solve, and resolve potential project issues. Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications, design, quality and safety standards. Review the quality of work regularly with the project team to ensure it meets standards and specifications, using soft leadership skills to navigate needed changes. Ensure each subcontractor complies with project specifications. Ensure crew and subcontractor clean‑up occurs on a daily and weekly basis. Manage risks on the job site, including compliance with all regulations and company guidelines around Safety, HR, Finance, and Operations. Operate with the highest ethical standards and comply with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations, and SOPs. Provide leadership and maintain professional relationships among all operating units, trades, vendors, and subcontractors. Lead team, foremen and division providing support, training, coaching, mentorship, and development for team members; address personnel needs and challenges. Assist in administrative functions such as interviews, hiring, coaching and discipline of personnel. Examine contract drawings, specifications and addenda for design deficiencies, impractical details and possible code violations, bringing these to the Project Manager or owner. Identify project OSHA and safety requirements or concerns and take corrective actions. Remain alert to potential efficiency improvements on the job site and recommend enhancements to productivity. Develop, maintain and complete accurate project progress and activity reports on a daily and weekly basis. Monitor costs and assist Project Managers in updating projections and reporting to Senior Management as needed. Lead and manage Demolition projects and work sites in the separation and/or demolition of multi‑story buildings using equipment such as high‑reach excavators, grapples, processing equipment and torches. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Superior EQ with exceptional communication and enhanced leadership skills, including abilities to inspire efficiency, interact effectively with customers at all levels, develop partnerships with vendors and inspectors, communicate potential problems and inspire trust, maintain a calm and motivating attitude on job sites, and handle stressful situations professionally. Deep knowledge of heavy civil construction from a planning perspective, specifically in the Demolition specialization, including practical knowledge of federal, state and municipal building codes related to earthwork, ability to read and interpret plan drawings, foresee project flow, understand how each part of the scope affects others, and develop and communicate solutions with related cost impact. High level organization, planning, prioritization, coordination, and the general ability to manage several moving parts over multiple projects, with an understanding of profit and loss. Includes ability to multi‑task, coordinate, delegate, supervise project activities and staff, understand budget principles, work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, and have a solid knowledge of accounting principles and materials markets. Requires at least 5 years experience in a supervisory role with a demonstrated track record of excellence. Top‑notch problem‑solving and analytical skills, combined with a goal‑oriented and positive attitude, strong initiative, and ownership. Includes ability to assess problem situations, gather information, generate solutions, make recommendations, and resolve problems. Goal‑oriented and positive; able to react to challenging circumstances to achieve desired end result. Proficient with Microsoft products and project‑related software such as TrackIt and B2W. Strong math and writing skills with ability to communicate professionally verbally and by email, and perform complex mathematical calculations in real time. Broad understanding of safety and OSHA compliance with a 30‑hour OSHA safety class within 30 days of assignment. Strong demonstrated knowledge in Demolition, including significant experience in 4+ story building demolition, high‑reach excavator use, directing multi‑story building separations, demolition tool knowledge, recycling processing and sorting, small hand tools and torches, fall protection, rigging and signaling, and asbestos awareness. Requires ability to communicate in English with co‑workers, customers, and the general public. Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or holidays as required to accommodate customer and project demands. Preferred Experience with Viewpoint and B2W software to extract and provide job cost analysis and project information and produce related reports. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Physical Demands Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, including uneven terrain on work sites when needed. Ability to push, pull, and lift items up to 25–50 lbs. Ability to maneuver paperwork and read a computer screen for extended durations. Work Environment Superintendents spend a significant portion of each week in the field visiting clients and assigned projects, exposing them to weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and uneven terrain. Additional time is spent in offices and meetings, with varying temperatures, screen time, and driving.
