Controller
$110k - $140kGamesight
Gamesight empowers the industry's top game makers through data, technology, and experiences. Gamesight builds technology to help kickass games find commercial success. We do this by empowering game publishers with data so they can better understand their community, players, and game performance. We specialize in Measurement & Attribution, Influencer Activations, Creator Programs, and Creator-Led Playtests, all tailored to meet the unique needs of each game at every stage of its lifecycle. About this Role Gamesight is looking for a strategic, detail-oriented Controller with a record of managing both the delivery of financial reports, the creation of forecasts, and tax compliance to meet our growing financial requirements. You will manage the day-to-day operations of our finance function, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. You will collaborate with all teams across the business, developing processes and controls for efficiency, accuracy, and completeness of financial information reported to management and external parties.
This is a hands-on role, not a review-and-approve seat. We need someone who communicates clearly, digs into process problems, and is willing to do the technical accounting work themselves, not just sign off on it. Our ideal candidate will see the opportunity to help the broader organization adopt a set of standard financial processes and goals as a tremendous contribution to Gamesight's success. Using The Office's accounting department as a reference point - we're looking for someone with Angela's attention to detail, Oscar's problem-solving skills, and Kevin's enthusiasm. You don't have to love cats or chili, but you're a great fit if you love video games! The pay range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000 USD annually, depending on experience. What you'll do:
Orientation & Building (Days 1-30):
Eligibility We value diversity and welcome applications from talented individuals in many regions; however, please note that only candidates who are eligible to work in the United States will be considered for full-time employment. - Experience with multi-state and international payroll/contractor compliance (given the cross-border headcount).
- SaaS/subscription revenue recognition (ASC 606) experience.
- Familiarity with Rippling, QuickBooks Online, Brex, or Tipalti specifically.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior accounting staff.
- Prior exposure to gaming, media, or creator-economy business models.
Orientation & Building (Days 1-30):
- You ship something, build something, or write something for your role on day 1.
- You are aware of Gamesight policies, guidelines, teams, and roles.
- You can access all tools and resources required for you to be effective - you also understand how to use these tools within Gamesight's processes.
- You know Gamesight's leadership team and are comfortable routing basic questions to the right people.
- You understand Gamesight's current accounting set-up and our financial position, and have familiarized yourself with recent financial reporting.
- You complete the month-end close and produce financial statements.
- Audited all existing revenue and cost of revenue entries and made adjusting entries to bring them into accuracy.
- Established a new process for tracking and reporting gross margin by product/service on a monthly basis.
