Controller (High-Growth SaaS | Path to CFO) Location: Downtown Denver with a hybrid schedule and flexibility for 2 to 4 days in office A rapidly growing, PE-backed cybersecurity and risk intelligence company is seeking a hands‑on, strategic Controller to build and scale the accounting function during an exciting period of expansion. With strong financial fundamentals already in place, this is a rare opportunity to step into a high‑impact leadership role with a clear path to CFO. The Role Reporting to executive leadership, the Controller will lead all accounting operations while serving as a player‑coach, balancing hands‑on execution with team leadership and strategic initiatives. You will be instrumental in building a best‑in‑class accounting infrastructure, supporting rapid growth, and acting as a key partner to leadership and investors. Key Responsibilities Own all technical accounting under U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 for SaaS revenue recognition Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, driving automation and efficiency Maintain audit readiness and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and the Audit Committee Design and enhance internal controls with future SOX readiness in mind Oversee tax strategy and compliance across partnership, sales and use, indirect, and related areas Build a scalable reporting framework in partnership with FP&A to serve as the source of truth Establish and improve accounting processes across order‑to‑cash, procure‑to‑pay, and record‑to‑report Lead and develop a growing accounting team, including hiring and scaling the function Partner cross‑functionally with Finance, Revenue Operations, Legal, HR, and IT Provide insights and reporting to executive leadership and investors What We Are Looking For Active CPA is required 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience Strong foundation in public accounting, ideally Big 4 or a large regional firm Experience in SaaS, technology, or recurring revenue environments 5 or more years of leadership experience managing and building accounting teams Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606), and audit processes Proven ability to build processes, scale systems, and lead through growth Experience in private equity‑backed or high‑growth environments is strongly preferred Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Nice to have Exposure to partnership tax or complex entity structures Benefits Fully paid employee health coverage and 50 percent coverage for dependents #J-18808-Ljbffr StevenDouglas
