Bistro Attendant

Part-time and Full-time available

Position Purpose

The Bistro Attendant provides friendly, efficient food and beverage service while creating a welcoming experience for hotel guests. This position is responsible for taking and preparing orders, serving food and beverages, processing payments, maintaining a clean and inviting Bistro area, and ensuring guests receive prompt and professional service.

The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, energetic, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Essential Functions

• Greet guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and serve menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Prepare coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and other beverages as required.
• Serve beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages when applicable and in accordance with all company policies and applicable laws.
• Answer guest questions and provide recommendations regarding menu items and available offerings.
• Accurately process cash, credit/debit card, room charge, and other approved payment methods.
• Operate the point-of-sale system and properly open and close guest checks.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and current offerings.
• Set up, maintain, and break down the Bistro or food and beverage service area as required.
• Restock food, beverages, utensils, cups, condiments, and other supplies throughout the shift.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary food preparation and service area.
• Clean and sanitize counters, tables, equipment, utensils, and other assigned areas.
• Follow established food handling, sanitation, safety, and alcohol service procedures.
• Complete opening and closing duties, including appropriate cash-handling procedures when assigned.
• Respond to guest questions, concerns, and special requests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Communicate effectively with hotel departments to ensure a positive and seamless guest experience.
• Remain organized, attentive, and guest-focused during busy service periods.

Supportive Functions

In addition to performing the essential functions, this position may be required to perform other duties based on the operational needs of the hotel.

• Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking food and beverage supplies.
• Assist with inventory counts as requested.
• Assist with breakfast, coffee, bar, market, banquet, or other Food & Beverage operations as needed.
• Perform general cleaning and organizational tasks.
• Support hotel operations and guest service as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, Bistro, barista, food service, or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong guest service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
• Ability to learn food and beverage menus, recipes, and preparation standards.
• Basic math and cash-handling skills.
• Ability to operate a point-of-sale system or willingness to learn.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
• Must meet all applicable age, certification, and licensing requirements for preparing or serving alcoholic beverages when required by the position.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as applicable.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to operate kitchen equipment, beverage equipment, point-of-sale systems, and food service tools.
• Ability to safely handle hot food, beverages, kitchen equipment, glassware, and food products.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull supplies and equipment as required for the position.

Hospitality Expectations

Our hotels operate seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day. All associates are expected to support a professional, welcoming, and service-focused environment at all times. Scheduling and responsibilities may vary based on business and operational needs.
