Performs sterilization, decontamination, and assembly of surgical instruments to ensure patient safety and compliance with hospital standards. Supports surgical teams by maintaining sterile processing protocols and ensuring equipment readiness. Responsibilities:
- Execute sterilization, decontamination, and assembly of surgical instruments and scopes following established procedures.
- Maintain proper handling and packaging of instruments for reprocessing and sterilization.
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards during processing tasks.
- Document processing activities accurately within hospital systems using Epic or similar software.
- Respond to call requirements, providing support during emergencies, including rotating weekends and call shifts.
- Collaborate with surgical and medical staff to meet facility needs and ensure optimal instrument availability.
- Hold at least 2 years of experience in sterile processing, decontamination, and instrument reassembly.
- Certified by CBSPD and/or HSAP, or eligible for certification.
- Proven knowledge of sterilization techniques and reprocessing of surgical instruments across specialties such as neuro, urology, robotics, ENT, orthopedics, transplant, and gynecology.
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision.
- Valid South Carolina RN license or proof of application preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and adherence to compliance standards.
