Senior Director, Legal Counsel

Cytokinetics seeks a Senior Director of Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance on corporate transactions, licensing agreements, and acquisitions. The role combines independent legal analysis with cross-functional leadership, reporting to the SVP, Deputy General Counsel, and requires hybrid work in South San Francisco.

Responsibilities

• Lead or participate in negotiating complex corporate arrangements and business development transactions
• Draft and negotiate contracts with focus on indemnities, liability limits, intellectual property, and regulatory matters
• Evaluate and implement legal technology solutions to improve operational efficiency
• Provide independent legal leadership on critical issues and manage outside counsel relationships

Requirements

• JD degree and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
• 10+ years in-house counsel experience in biotech, pharma, or healthcare
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills for complex agreements
• Ability to independently manage legal matters and lead cross-functional teams
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities
• California bar admission or Registered In-House Counsel status preferred

Compensation: $315,000-$367,500 base salary
