Smyth Industries is currently searching for an individual with experience as a IT Support Technician to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry. In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by: Scope The IT Support Technician is responsible for the support of all Smyth Industries' internal technology needs across multiple office locations. This role involves providing timely, in-person support to our users, managing hardware and software, and acting as the primary liaison to our off-site managed service provider (MSP). The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff contributing to efficient operations and adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities End-User Support: Serve as the first point of contact for all local IT issues, including computers, copiers, printers, plotters, scanners, cellular phones, wired phone system, security system and software issues; Provide timely in-person support; Assist users with technical needs across multiple office locations. Managed Services Provider (MSP) Support & Coordination: Work closely with the MSP as a local resource to troubleshoot IT issues; Act as the bridge between on-site needs and remote technical expertise. Hardware & Software Management: Coordinate with the MSP to maintain computer systems, hardware, and software applications (including Microsoft 365); Coordinate the end-to-end lifecycle of IT equipment, from procurement to decommissioning. Onboarding & Offboarding: Set up newly hired employees with necessary equipment and access; Manage the secure collection and data archival process for departing employees. Asset & Vendor Management: Coordinate with the MSP to track and manage all IT assets, licenses, and inventory across all locations; Assist with procurement, deployment and maintenance of technology services and equipment. Technology Solutions: Research, recommend, and coordinate installation of technological solutions for business needs. Staff Training & Security Awareness: Develop and provide basic Microsoft Office software training and other IT best practices for staff; Deliver regular cybersecurity awareness training to help mitigate risks. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all internal IT processes and troubleshooting steps. Troubleshooting & Process Improvement: Diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently; Document all incidents and resolutions; Identify trends in recurring issues to proactively propose solutions for improvement. System Performance & Security: Coordinate with the MSP to monitor system and network performance; Assist with regular maintenance activities; Ensure system reliability and compliance with security standards. Business Continuity Support: Work with the MSP in developing, testing, and documenting the IT components of the company's business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure operational resilience in the event of disruption. Minimum Qualifications An associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant certifications and demonstrated practical experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree. 2–4 years IT support experience. Proven experience in an IT support role. Valid driver’s license, pass MVR and drug screening. Lift/carry 50 lbs. Preferred Certifications CompTIA A+ Network+ Security+ Additional Qualifications Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, and general networking principles (LAN/WAN, VPN, printers) Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Power BI software Experience with providing excellent internal staff support and asset management best practices Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users Self-motivated and able to work independently, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail Disclaimers Duties may be modified at any time.
