Field IT Technician

Core Responsibilities * Installation and Setup: install new equipment and systems, ensuring proper configuration and functionality. This includes setting up telecommunications systems, , or industrial equipment depending on the industry, and calibrating or testing equipment before deployment to ensure optimal performance * Maintenance and Preventative Care: perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and service checks to keep equipment operational and minimize downtime. This includes cleaning, , and adjusting equipment, as well as replacing worn malfunctioning or bad parts * Troubleshooting and Repairs: diagnosing technical issues, identify malfunctions, and implementing solutions to restore equipment functionality. This may involve mechanical, electrical, or software troubleshooting, and sometimes requires knowledge of specialized systems * Customer Support and Communication: Acting as the primary on-site contact, provide technical guidance, answer questions, and train customers in proper equipment use. They ensure customer satisfaction by explaining repairs, maintenance procedures, and best operational practices * Documentation and Reporting: Accurate record-keeping is essential. maintain logs of service activities, equipment performance, parts used, and customer interactions. also report technical issues and progress to supervisors or engineering teams * Safety and Compliance: They follow company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry safety standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage. This includes performing hazard assessments, using personal protective equipment, and maintaining a clean work environment * Travel and Field Work: frequently travel to customer sites, often working in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments. Position may lift and carry heavy equipment and adapt to different work settings Additional Responsibilities * Managing work orders digitally or on paper to ensure timely completion of tasks * Staying updated on new technologies, industry standards, and company training programs * Supporting revenue generation by quoting services or parts directly in the field when applicable Skills and Qualifications * Position requires a technical background, hands-on experience, and strong problem-solving skills. * Key competencies include mechanical and electrical knowledge, troubleshooting, customer service, communication, and adherence to safety protocols. * Certifications or technical training relevant to the specific equipment or industry are often preferred Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
