Position Title: Consumer Protection Real Estate Examiner Position Overview The Department of Consumer Protection is looking for a licensed real estate professional to work within the Real Estate Unit to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations. Position Details Full-time, 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; first shift; hybrid role; located at 450 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT. Responsibilities Investigate real estate complaints and cases as assigned. Write investigative reports. Testify at hearings and in court. Provide information and technical assistance to licensees and the public. Speak before groups and the media as assigned. Attend and work with the Real Estate Commission. Examine records, operating procedures, licenses, contracts, escrow accounts, and applications for compliance. Perform audits, investigations, and interview complainants and brokers. Conduct informal hearings and provide testimony at formal hearings and judge. May be responsible for special assignments including real property securities, bad check collection, apartment listing services, and licensing supervision. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications Six (6) years of experience in real estate brokerage, sales, appraisals, or regulatory work in the industry. Real estate licensure or equivalent experience. Knowledge of real estate practices, state laws and regulations, and examination and investigation methods. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with computer software. Preferred Qualifications Licensed real estate broker in Connecticut. Full-time experience in the real estate field. Experience representing both buyers and sellers. Experience in investigations and writing investigative reports. Other Requirements May be required to travel. Must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Must be unable to use an appraisal or real estate license while employed in this position.
