About this position

Processes, embeds, cuts and stains tissue sections for pathological examinations. Provides and communicates information to authorized sources.
• ASCP or equivalent certification or eligible to sit for Board or Registry exam. Certification is required within 1 year of hire and maintained as a condition of continued employment.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Histotechnology or Laboratory Science from an accredited institution; or, prior to April 24, 1995, qualified as a technician according to CLIA's 'Grandfather' provision or, has equivalent experience and been deemed competent.


Experience

Experience
• Minimum of one year current laboratory experience in a clinic or hospital preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to perform assigned histology duties which include embedding, cutting, and staining.
• Ability to assist pathologist with gross specimen analysis.
• Knowledge of common special stains.
• Ability to operate laboratory computer system as appropriate


Licensure/Certification
• ASCP or equivalent certification or eligible to sit for Board or Registry exam. Certification is required within 1 year of hire and maintained as a condition of continued employment.

Salary Range: N17 ($27.77 - $41.66), based on experience


Shift Differential: Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked.
