Mortgage Loan AssistantThe Mortgage Loan Assistant (MLA) provides support for the entire loan origination process and collaborates with Mortgage Loan Originators and Pipeline & Delivery Manager to ensure a smooth mortgage transaction. This MLA is also responsible for working with the origination team to ensure compliance related deadlines are met related to ECOA and HMDA for withdrawals and rejected loans that require Carter Bank adverse action and/or HMDA reporting. This role requires both a sales and operational mindset.Essential Job FunctionsReviews the initial loan application, supporting documentation, and credit authorization for accuracy and completion with the customerKeeps current understanding of all loan program guidelines, pricing, policies and proceduresProvides weekly status updates of files in progress to MLO, Referral Partner and ClientProcesses borrower documents in an accurate and timely manner following proper internal protocol and proceduresCommunicates and partners closely with operations to ensure a smooth and accurate loan processProvide some back up support for Mortgage Loan Originators who are out of the officePerform post-closing follow up with clients to answer any questions regarding first payments and servicingAssist with monitoring pipelines for key target dates to ensure deadlines and objectives are metProvide assistance in monitoring information for HMDA/Adverse Action related reportingAssist with identifying relevant bank products and services based on customer needsServe as an ongoing support point of contact for Mortgage Loan Originators and Pipeline Delivery Manager by performing various duties as assigned to maintain an exceptional client experienceJob RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalence requiredPrior banking experience preferredKnowledge/Skills RequiredIntermediate written and verbal communication skillsIntermediate understanding of federal and state laws and regulations related to mortgage lendingIntermediate knowledge of mortgage guidelines, pricing, policies, and proceduresIntermediate knowledge of bank products and servicesIntermediate proficiency with Microsoft OfficeIntermediate proficiency with lending softwareIntermediate organizational skillsIntermediate adaptability skillsBasic analysis skillsBasic understanding of credit underwriting guidelinesBasic understanding of financial documentsPhysical and Mental QualificationsStanding, walking, bending and stooping requiredMust be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computerMust be able to occasionally move or lift up to 10 poundsMay be asked to work supplemental hours periodicallyLimited travel required occasionally during and after business hoursHourly Pay Range: $18.93 - $29.60Benefits: Eligible associates may participate in Carter Bank's benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, other voluntary benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and paid holidays.
