Cultural Facilitator/Conductor - Wabnode Centre (Appendix D)

Cambrian College’s Wabnode Centre for Indigenous Services has an immediate requirement for a full-time Cultural Facilitator / Conductor on a leave replacement basis. Duties and Responsibilities Implement cultural teaching programs which includes regular class visits, workshops and support to academic areas with regard to Indigenous knowledge, cultural diversity and cultural safety. Facilitate and conduct events, workshops, ceremonies and classes that promote traditional healing and wellness. Responsible for Sacred Fire Arbour, Tee Pee, storage shed and related facilities. Coordinate Elders program including language classes, teaching circles, and counselling support. Assist in scheduling of on campus hours, in class visits and services to students and staff. Community engagement that develops partnerships with programs and services with external partners. Support community-based delivery and satellite campuses implementing cultural teachings and health and wellness. Develop cultural curriculum material and translations of Indigenous knowledge to be implemented in a variety of internal and external activities. Qualifications Must have a three‑year postsecondary diploma, degree, or equivalent in Sociology, Psychology, Education, Community and Social Services or a related field. Applicants with education completed outside of Canada must submit a WES or ICAS equivalence with their application. Minimum of eight years of practical experience working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and experience working with community engagement processes and Aboriginal students. Experience working in an environment that requires wide‑ranging cultural knowledge and practice, including traditional Aboriginal inculcation, medicines, engagement protocols, ceremonial etiquette, and working with traditional knowledge keepers, healers, and medicine people. Knowledge of Indigenous engagement with communities and Indigenous peoples. Understanding of Indigenous cultures, worldview and traditions. Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment. Excellent planning, organizational and problem‑solving skills. Self‑directed and energetic professional capable of working independently and within a team‑oriented environment. Required Information Educational documents (e.g., diplomas, degrees). WES or ICAS equivalence certificate for non‑Canadian qualifications. Indigenous Identity Confirmation Applicants who self‑identify as Indigenous will be asked to provide confirmation of identity, such as a statement of belonging to an Indigenous Nation or community, a detailed statement of lived experiences and ongoing connection, or documentation such as membership or citizenship cards.
