Registered Nurse - Med/Surg

Position Summary Provides care to adult or elderly patients with general medical conditions or general surgical procedures, requiring general assessments, therapies, and interventions. Education & Experience Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Minimum one (1) year of recent experience (within the past 5 years) as a Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse in an Acute Care or similar facility. Telemetry certification (preferred). Licensing & Certification Current license by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse. 2 South staff must complete CPI class during the first year of hire and recertify every 2 years. 1400 RNs must receive on-site Transplant and FLAP education and orientation during the first year of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of nursing process, anatomy & physiology, standards of care, disease process, medical equipment, patient care plan development, evaluation techniques, body mechanics, office equipment, pharmacology, Nurse Practice Act, safety practices, patient rights, infection control, hazardous materials, and emergency response. Skills include implementing nursing process, working with high-risk or critically ill patients, performing invasive procedures, developing education programs, prioritizing and delegating work, using computers and related software, communicating across diverse backgrounds, establishing effective working relationships, and safe equipment use. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment. Stamina to stand or walk for extended periods. Strength to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly. Vision to read printed materials and VDT screen.
