Position Overview The Director of Support Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for the performance, optimization, and growth of ViaSun's support service functions, including Traffic Control, Shop, and Lab operations. This role ensures these functions operate efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively while supporting field operations and contributing to overall company performance. The Director will also identify opportunities to enhance capabilities, improve utilization, and expand services where appropriate. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction for Traffic Control, Shop, and Lab operations Ensure alignment between support services and field operations to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime Implement and maintain standardized processes, systems, and operating procedures Oversee equipment, maintenance programs, and resource allocation Financial & Performance Management Develop and manage budgets for all support service functions Monitor financial performance, cost controls, and resource utilization Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery Support pricing strategies and financial models for internal and external service delivery Continuous Improvement & Systems Drive process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and reliability Reduce operational inefficiencies and reliance on reactive processes Establish performance metrics and monitor outcomes to support data-driven decision-making Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement Team Leadership & Culture Lead, mentor, and develop managers and teams across support service functions Foster a culture aligned with ViaSun's core values, emphasizing ownership, accountability, and collaboration Support hiring, development, and retention of high-performing team members Address performance and team challenges in alignment with company policies Risk, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company safety standards Drive a strong safety culture across all support service operations Identify and mitigate operational risks proactively Maintain required certifications and regulatory standards (including lab operations) Stakeholder & Client Collaboration Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, partners, and external agencies Support operational teams by ensuring high-quality, reliable support services Collaborate with leadership to enhance service capabilities and organizational performance What Success Looks Like Success in this role is typically demonstrated by: Efficient, reliable, and well-coordinated support services that enable field operations Strong financial performance and cost control across support functions Reduced downtime through effective maintenance and operational planning High levels of employee engagement and team performance Continuous improvement in systems, processes, and service delivery Requirements Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in construction operations, support services, or related leadership roles Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Experience managing budgets, operations, and cross-functional teams Proficiency with construction-related systems (e.g., Viewpoint, HeavyJob, HeavyBid, or similar tools) Valid driver's license Preferred Experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, or pavement preservation industries Experience in ESOP or employee-owned organizations Strong background in safety, compliance, and operational risk management Work Environment Onsite leadership role with high operational visibility Collaborative environment across operations, finance, and executive leadership Fast-paced, growth-oriented construction and infrastructure industry Equal Opportunity & Accommodation ViaSun Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer and makes employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected classification under applicable law.
