Job Description

This role involves building floor and wall trusses in a modern, indoor truss plant located in Brandon, SD. You will work with basic hand and power tools to assemble structural components according to specifications. The position requires standing and walking for extended periods, and you will perform repetitive tasks with a strong focus on accuracy, safety, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Assemble floor and wall trusses according to production plans and specifications.
• Use basic tools, including tape measures and hammers, to measure, cut, and secure materials accurately.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely to build trusses in an efficient and consistent manner.
• Follow detailed instructions and layouts to ensure trusses meet required dimensions and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the truss plant.
• Stand, walk, and move materials throughout the facility for up to 10 hours per day.
• Perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining attention to detail and productivity.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to meet daily production goals.
• Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines while working with tools and equipment.
• Assist with other construction or carpentry-related tasks in the plant as needed.

Essential Skills

• Experience in carpentry or construction, with wall framing experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to use basic hand tools, including hammers and tape measures, accurately and safely.
• Comfort using power tools in a construction or manufacturing environment.
• Capability to read and interpret measurements and follow instructions for assembly.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day and perform repetitive tasks.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and quality assembly.
• Reliability and willingness to work mandatory scheduled hours.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a truss plant or similar production environment is an advantage.
• general construction or carpentry beyond wall framing is beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to work additional voluntary hours on Fridays and Saturdays when available.

Work Environment

You will work in a brand-new indoor truss plant facility in Brandon, SD. The environment is production-focused, with significant standing and walking throughout the shift and repetitive assembly tasks. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and these hours are mandatory. Additional hours may be available on Fridays and Saturdays on a voluntary basis. You will regularly use hand tools and power tools in a structured, safety-conscious setting, and you can expect a consistent, hands-on, construction-style work environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brandon, SD.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
