Job Description And Duties Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel for the Division of Recycling, the Attorney IV will prepare cases and advise and represent the Department in complex administration actions, including hearings, application reviews, and settlement negotiations. The Attorney IV will act as liaison between the Department and the Attorney General’s Office for civil and criminal proceedings. The Attorney IV will be responsible for researching and analyzing state and federal case law, statutes, regulations and procedures associated with the Department’s programs, primarily the Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act and its regulations. The Attorney IV will be expected to write briefs, accusations, memoranda and correspondence on complex and difficult legal matters. The Attorney IV will be expected to handle requests under the California Public Records Act. The Attorney IV will be expected have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and consistently to treat others with courtesy and respect. See duty statement for further information.
