Mobile Diesel Technician I The Mobile Diesel Technician I will perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties as assigned. The Technician I can perform more advanced repairs under the supervision of a Mobile Diesel Technician II or higher, and will assist higher‑level technicians while continuing to learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostics. Work is frequently audited for quality and compliance with company policies and performance metrics. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift jacks, and related gear. Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings observed on Repair Orders (RO) using an iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation promptly. Work independently, managing own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or near standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and the support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, or discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conducting safety checks and daily pre/post‑trip inspections. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and up to 2 years of experience in a related field. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties. OEM training and certifications are preferred. Participate in and complete all in‑company required training. Candidate must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. Maintain a current and valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining until expiration; a physical may be required if less than 4 months remain. Be at least 21 years old to meet interstate operating authority commerce regulations. Hold a valid driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File, and be a safe driver. Required Certifications or Obtained Within 18 Months ASE T8 (PMI) certification Preferred Certifications ASE T4 (Brakes) certification Skills & Abilities Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making. Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods, and to perform moderately heavy labor. Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods without tiring, including repetitive tasks. Communicate information succinctly and organize it; engage in effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups. Determine the type of tools and equipment needed for tasks. Accurately judge relative distances between objects and observer. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on location and candidate qualifications.
