Accountant

The Office of Finance Department intends to fill one Accountant position in the Revenue Reporting Unit. The Revenue Reporting Unit is responsible for maintaining records, reconciling various departmental revenue reports, and providing administrative support to the Executive Office. This unit works closely with other divisions within the Office of Finance regarding accounting transactions for business taxes, permit fees, and other related items.

The onsite work location for this position is at City Hall (200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Finance requires a minimum of two work days on-site per week, with the option to telecommute. Additional on-site reporting days may be required to meet operational needs. The available work schedules are 9/80 or 5/40.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Senior Accountant II, the Accountant will conduct critical
accounting functions, including reviewing, preparing, and processing various documents and transactions using the City's FMS system. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Direct, supervise, and manage paraprofessional accounting staff.
• Apply sound accounting practices and procedures as they relate to governmental accounting and financial reporting.
• Process accounting documents and reports related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, funds, appropriations, vendor maintenance, p-card, and travel.
• Prepare, review, and approve FMS documents.
• Assist with the preparation of various types of accounting statements and reports, including the annual Cost Allocation Plan (CAP), end-of-year fund reversion worksheet, special fund bills/invoices, balance sheets, and income and disbursement statements for the annual report of the City.
• Accumulate and analyze cost data in preparing expenditure reports.
• Consult with the Controller's Office and other City departments on a variety of matters affecting the revenues and the processing of invoice payments.

Requirements:

Must have passed probation and be in the current classification of Accountant.
