Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
• Handle animals safely and effectively, utilizing proper restraint techniques for various species including dogs, cats, and equines.
• Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
• Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and patient histories with precision.
• Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, pet grooming, and ensuring proper animal husbandry practices are followed.
• Conduct dental cleanings and understand dental terminology to assist in oral health procedures.
• Take radiographs (X-ray) and assist with imaging procedures while adhering to safety protocols.
• Manage animal catheterization, venipuncture, and other invasive procedures with skill and care.
• Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing emergency assistance when needed.

Skills

• Proven kennel experience with the ability to manage multiple animals efficiently.
• Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy knowledge.
• Experience in animal husbandry, pet care, and animal handling across various species.
• Skilled in laboratory techniques relevant to veterinary diagnostics.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques essential for surgical prep and invasive procedures.
• Ability to handle dogs confidently during training or restraint situations; experience with dog handling is a plus.
• Familiarity with dental terminology for assisting in oral health procedures.
• Experience with X-ray imaging processes and equipment operation.
• Competence in animal catheterization and intravenous access procedures.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within a veterinary team dedicated to animal health.
