Position Summary

The Banquet Operations Manager is a polished, hands-on leader responsible for the successful execution of club events, private functions, member gatherings, and banquet operations. Reporting to the Catering Director, this position leads banquet staff through setup, service, breakdown, and post-event follow-up while ensuring every event is delivered with professionalism, consistency, warmth, and attention to detail. The role partners closely with the Catering Director, culinary team, and club departments to ensure events are properly planned, staffed, communicated, and delivered according to Athens Country Club standards.

Essential Responsibilities

Event Operations & Execution

· Oversee all phases of banquet and club events, including room setup, service execution, event flow, breakdown, and post-event cleanup.

· Execute events according to Banquet Event Orders, floor plans, service timelines, and member or client specifications.

· Inspect event spaces before, during, and after each function to ensure proper setup, cleanliness, safety, and presentation.

· Confirm tables, linens, silverware, glassware, banquet equipment, service stations, and event materials are prepared to club standards.

· Coordinate food service between the culinary team and banquet service staff to ensure timely, efficient, and polished service.

· Assist with audio/visual setup when required and ensure event rooms are clean, maintained, and properly reset for upcoming functions.

· Maintain banquet storage areas, service equipment, and event spaces in an organized, clean, and ready-to-use condition.

Banquet Staff Scheduling & Supervision

· Manage daily and weekly banquet staff schedules based on event volume, service needs, labor expectations, and club standards.

· Assign banquet captains, servers, bartenders, and event staff to appropriate event roles and service areas.

· Adjust staffing assignments as needed to support changing event requirements and ensure proper service coverage.

· Lead banquet staff during events to ensure smooth service flow, clear communication, and consistent execution.

· Ensure team members understand event timelines, guest counts, setup requirements, service expectations, and assigned responsibilities.

Training, Leadership & Service Standards

· Train banquet employees in service standards, banquet procedures, guest service expectations, and club policies.

· Lead pre-function meetings and service lineups to communicate event details, assignments, timing, and service goals.

· Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure service standards are consistently met and improved.

· Monitor staff appearance, uniform standards, professionalism, and readiness for service.

· Support staff accountability through clear direction, performance feedback, and consistent expectations.

· Foster a positive, professional, team-oriented banquet culture focused on member and guest satisfaction.

Planning, Communication & Department Coordination

· Partner with the Catering Director to review upcoming events, staffing needs, floor plans, service details, and special requirements.

· Collaborate with the culinary team regarding menus, service timing, serving arrangements, equipment needs, and preparation details.

· Maintain effective communication with food and beverage departments to ensure all event requirements are met.

· Review table diagrams, guest tables, room layouts, and setup needs for each function.

· Communicate event changes, member feedback, staffing notes, setup needs, and operational updates in a timely and professional manner.

· Participate in weekly or scheduled event meetings and complete other assignments as directed by the Catering Director.

Inventory, Billing & Reporting

· Assist with inventory of banquet service ware, linens, equipment, supplies, and other event-related materials.

· Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available for upcoming events.

· Track event changes, additional charges, final counts, and billing-related details; communicate updates to the Catering Director.

· Complete post-event reports or banquet service summaries documenting event performance, staff notes, member feedback, and opportunities for improvement.

Member & Guest Experience

· Serve as the visible operational leader during banquet events and club functions.

· Greet members and guests warmly, respond to requests professionally, and resolve concerns promptly and discreetly.

· Ensure excellent member and guest service is provided throughout the banquet department.

· Maintain a polished service environment that reflects Athens Country Club’s hospitality standards.

· Ensure food and beverages are served promptly and event spaces remain presentable throughout each function.

Compliance, Safety & Club Standards

· Ensure club policies, procedures, rules, and service standards are consistently followed.

· Enforce all applicable state and local laws related to alcohol service.

· Ensure staff follow proper health, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.

· Maintain clean, safe, and orderly banquet areas, service spaces, and storage locations.

· Promote ethical, professional conduct and uphold Athens Country Club standards at all times.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required; degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred.

· Minimum of 2-4 years of banquet, catering, food and beverage, hotel, resort, private club, or upscale event supervisory experience preferred.

· Private club experience preferred.

· Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

· Knowledge of banquet operations, event setup, service standards, floor plans, and event coordination.

· Ability to lead calmly and professionally in a fast-paced event environment.

· Dynamic, outgoing personality with a strong commitment to service excellence.

· Food safety certification preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

· Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds.

· Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, stretch, and twist as needed.

· Must be able to work in hot, humid, noisy, and fast-paced environments.

· Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on club events.

Compensation & Benefits

Athens Country Club offers a competitive full-time salary ($55,000.00 – $60,000.00) commensurate with experience.
