Business Central Developer

Job Summary:

The Business Central Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, customizing, and supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solutions. This role involves extension development, integrations, reporting, system optimization, upgrades, and ongoing support to ensure effective business operations and technology alignment. Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, customize, and maintain Business Central applications and extensions using AL language.
• Develop and deploy Business Central extensions following modern extension architecture and best practices.
• Customize pages, reports, tables, code units, workflows, and APIs.
• Integrate Business Central with external systems and Microsoft technologies including Power Platform, Azure services, and Microsoft 365.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, web services, and data integration solutions.
• Participate in full software development lifecycle activities including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and resolve application issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Support data migration activities and system upgrades from legacy ERP platforms or previous Dynamics versions.
• Develop reports and documents using RDLC and Word layouts.
• Maintain technical documentation and development standards.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience developing solutions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Dynamics NAV.
• Recent hands-on experience with Business Central and AL extension development.
• Strong proficiency in AL programming language and extension development.
• Experience with Business Central SaaS environments and knowledge of its architecture, configuration, and deployment models.
• Experience with APIs, web services, JSON, XML, REST APIs, API pages/queries, OData V4, and OAuth 2.0/Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with Git and Azure DevOps source control practices.
• Understanding of SQL Server and database concepts.
• Experience with debugging, testing, performance optimization, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Technical skills including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, AL Development, Visual Studio Code, RDLC Reports, APIs/REST Services, SQL Server, Azure DevOps, Power Platform, Git, and Microsoft 365 integrations.
• Clean criminal record check required prior to engagement and maintained throughout contract.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
• Experience with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and cloud integrations.
• Knowledge of ERP business processes including Finance, Procurement, Inventory, Supply Chain, or Operations.
• MB-820 Business Central Developer Associate certification or other Microsoft certifications related to Dynamics 365 or Azure.
• Experience with Business Central upgrades and migrations.
• Experience with multi-company or multi-tenant deployments.
• Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Special Considerations:

• All services primarily performed on-site at 215 Garry Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with possible remote work at Manitoba's discretion.
• Clean criminal record check required and must be maintained throughout the contract.
• Enhanced background checks may be required for certain projects due to confidentiality.
• Overtime work requires prior written approval and is only for exceptional circumstances.

Scheduling:

• Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm CST (7.25 hours per day).
• Work performed during Manitoba statutory holidays is unpaid as offices are closed.
• Extended working hours may be required occasionally to meet project deadlines but are not guaranteed throughout the engagement.
