Clinical Practice Specialist (Standards)

SUMMARY The Clinical Practice Specialist over Standards leads the onboarding, field training, and skills verification of new and existing clinicians at Allegiance Mobile Health. This role owns the Field Training Officer (FTO) program, new-hire orientation, and ongoing competency validation, ensuring that every clinician is safely released to independent practice and consistently demonstrates the psychomotor skills, clinical judgment, and operational readiness required to serve patients across all levels of service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design, deliver, and manage new-hire clinical orientation and the Field Training Officer (FTO) program, including structured phases, evaluation criteria, and release-to-practice standards. Conduct and document initial and ongoing skills verification and competency evaluations for EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic clinicians. Recruit, train, calibrate, and support Field Training Officers to ensure consistent, objective evaluation across the organization. Perform ride-alongs and field observations to assess clinical performance, protocol adherence, and scene management, providing real-time coaching and structured feedback. Develop remediation and improvement plans for clinicians who do not meet competency standards, in coordination with clinical leadership and operations. Maintain accurate training, evaluation, and credentialing records within the learning management and documentation systems. Collaborate with the Education Specialist to ensure training content reflects current protocols, CE offerings, and QA/QI findings. Support onboarding logistics, including equipment familiarization, EHR/ePCR documentation training, and operational policy orientation. Analyze training outcomes and time-to-release metrics to continuously improve the onboarding and FTO programs. Required Qualifications Current certification/licensure as a Paramedic (NREMT and applicable state license) in good standing. Minimum of three (3) years of full-time field EMS experience at the Paramedic level. Prior experience as a Field Training Officer, preceptor, or clinical evaluator. Demonstrated ability to objectively assess clinical competency and deliver constructive feedback. Strong knowledge of EMS clinical protocols, psychomotor skills standards, and documentation requirements. Proficiency with ePCR/EHR systems and standard office/productivity software. Texas residency. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in EMS, healthcare, or a related field. FTO or preceptor program certification and adult-learning or instructor credentials. Experience building or managing a structured field training / FTO program. Experience with competency-based evaluation and remediation planning. Certifications And Licensure State of residency Paramedic license. Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS provider certifications or ability to obtain within 12 months: o BLS PALS ACLS

NAEMT Instructor I NAEMT Instructor II State EMS Instructor (if applicable). Field Training Officer/preceptor certification (preferred). Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and/or patients weighing up to 100 pounds independently and up to 250 pounds with assistance. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and prolonged standing or sitting during instruction, evaluation, and field activities. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing to assess clinical skills, read monitors and documentation, and communicate in noisy environments. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel between stations, training sites, hospitals, and partner agencies. Working Conditions Work is performed in a combination of office, classroom, simulation lab, and field/EMS environments. May require exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable disease, extreme weather, and emergency-scene conditions during ride-alongs and evaluations. Requires flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate 24/7 field operations. Regional travel required; a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are conditions of employment.
