About This Role

Seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our team at Aina Haina and Downtown locations, supporting the lead teacher in creating a secure, supportive, and engaging environment for young children. This role involves assisting in the planning, preparation, and delivery of age-appropriate activities, maintaining classroom order, and ensuring the emotional and developmental needs of the children are met.

• Maintain adherence to NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices in the classroom.
• Ensure compliance with the Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Care Licensing Hawaii Administrative Rules.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to work with individuals or small groups of children as directed.
• Partner with the teacher to develop and implement educational activities, lessons, and materials.
• Support the teacher in assessing and documenting student progress and behavior.
• Assist with mealtime preparations, nap-time support, and other daily routines.
• Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment by monitoring student behavior and enforcing school policies.
• Establish effective communication with students, teachers, and parents to support learning objectives.
• Take an active role in maintaining classroom organization and cleanliness, including cleaning, sanitizing, toileting, diapering, and managing supplies and resources.
• Demonstrate professionalism and conduct yourself in an appropriate manner when dealing with children, other staff or parents, or during school activities on or off campus.
• Be responsive to children's needs and exhibit positive modeling and behavior management.
• Ensure confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures, performing other duties as assigned by the lead teacher.

• Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Must meet state licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance).
• Has an early childhood education CDA or 2 years college and six months experience with preschool ages and 9 units Early Childhood Education.
• Meet State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) qualification standards for Assistant Teacher.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
