Job Opportunity – Critical Care Registered Nurse – South Dakota

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Aberdeen, South Dakota

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730), rotating days/nights, 3-4 shifts per week with 48-hour guarantee option available. Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and holiday rotation required. No call requirement.

Highlights:

• 8-bed private room Critical Care Unit providing care for adolescent (16+) through geriatric patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 for critical care patients; minimum staffing of 2 RNs when patients are present
• EPIC One Chart computerized charting system with advanced technology including PLUM IV smart pumps, central and arterial lines, ventilators, IABP, and overhead patient lift systems
• Comprehensive orientation program including hospital and unit-specific training
• May float to Medical/Surgical and Pediatric units based on census needs; Med/Surg overflow patients maintained at 1:4 ratio
• Opportunity to supervise nursing students and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams

Requirements:

• Current South Dakota RN license or multistate compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of Critical Care Unit experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CCRN and/or TNCC certifications preferred
• Prior Medical/Surgical, Pediatrics, and Emergency Department experience a plus
• Strong critical thinking skills with ability to assess, interpret hemodynamic monitoring, and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with physicians, healthcare teams, and patients/families
