By connecting with The Pivot Group Network, you position yourself for roles that match your background and aspirations.Key ResponsibilitiesFabricate, alter, and repair a wide range of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine tooling specifications.Set up and operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines.Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools to ensure accuracy.Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing tooling to improve performance and longevity.Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tooling applications.Maintain and calibrate shop equipment to ensure optimal functionality.Recommended QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDCompletion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job experience (typically 5+ years) in tool and die makingProficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawingsStrong understanding and practical application of various machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, EDM) and manual machining equipmentExperience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and ability to hold tight tolerancesKnowledge of different metal properties, heat treatment processes, and their application in tool makingBonus QualificationsAdditional certifications or trainingJob Titles That Should ApplyTool Maker, Precision Machinist, CNC Machinist, Journeyman Toolmaker, Die Maker, Mold Maker, Jig and Fixture Maker, Machinist Toolmaker, Tool and Die Maker, Prototype MachinistWhy The Pivot Group NetworkThe Pivot Group Network was founded by manufacturing professionals who've been on both sides of the hiring process.
