Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12 Hour Days
- Weekend Requirement: Saturdays and Sundays
- Unit: Birthing Center / Mother Baby L&D
- L&D Beds: 13
- C-Section OR Suites: 2
- Triage Beds: 2
- Postpartum Beds: 14
- Births: Average 170-190 per month
- Annual Deliveries: 2,104 in 2025

Patient Care & Experience:
- Follow AWHONN guidelines with ratios of 1:2 for L&D and 1:3-4 for couplets
- Handle high-risk patients, including:
- Preeclampsia
- Diabetes
- Psych/Social issues
- Positive illicit substance use

Required Skills:
- Must have LDRP experience
- Comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
- Proficient in assisting with baby transitions after delivery
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required
- Ability to titrate drips (e.g., Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin)

Unit Support:
- Charge nurse does not take an assignment and is free on both shifts
- One surgical tech and a patient care assistant available 24/7
- In-house OB/GYN/hospitalist available 24/7 for emergent cases
- In-house NNP in the nursery round the clock
- Anesthesia services available 24/7

Technological Support:
- Equipment: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc., available, typically one assigned to family birth
- Tele/Monitor Techs on unit; RNs read their own strips using Centricity perinatal for EFM

Scheduling & Orientation:
- Block scheduling available upon request
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Call/standby requirement with a 45-minute response time
- Comprehensive orientation includes:
- 8-hour compliance day with unit-based educator
- 8-hour EPIC class
- 2-3 shifts for unit-specific training

- Travelers must be adaptable to workflows, policies, and feedback
