Research Lab Tech II (Amamoto)

Job Summary Conducts a broad range of technically advanced research activities, evaluates conclusions, and modifies or devises methods and techniques to achieve desired results. Supervisions technical and sometimes administrative elements of the research unit. Essential Functions Executes protocols of non‑routine experiments. Assists the Principal Investigator (PI) with determining the most suitable methodology. Performs basic design and modification of protocols. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data. Prepares and presents reports. Organizes and summarizes acquired data using scientific and statistical techniques. Participates in the design of experiments or field work. Completes data‑management tasks requiring experience with computers and database‑management software. Orients, trains, and oversees new or junior research assistants. Generates graphs and data plots for meetings, grants, and publications. Contributes to the development of investigator abstracts, posters, and slide presentations. Completes basic regulatory and administrative tasks including COMS, IACUC, and other IRB submissions. Maintains equipment, supply inventory, and materials; orders supplies and materials. Maintains animal inventories. Conducts experiments under supervision. Demonstrates competence in research techniques and methodologies. Works independently under close supervision. Exhibits strong quantitative, organizational, and communication skills. Coordinated and prioritizes multiple tasks, working independently or as part of a team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 1+ year of related experience post‑degree required. 1‑2 years of previous research laboratory experience. Analytical skills with the ability to resolve technical problems. Strong computer skills and familiarity with data‑management software. Competence in research techniques and methodologies. Intermediate math skills (basic algebra and geometry) for problem solving. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical instructions, procedures, and regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write reports and present to groups. Capability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks; collaborate with team members. Experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable. Additional Job Details Onsite work location at 243‑245 Charles Street, Massachusetts. Scheduled 40 hours per week, day shift (regular hours). Regular employee type, Grade 6. Hourly pay range: $24.28 – $39.43.
