About the Role
The Company is in search of a General Counsel to serve as the chief legal advisor, providing strategic legal guidance that aligns with the organization's mission and long-term business objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including corporate, healthcare, and employment law, as well as regulatory compliance, governance, and risk management. This role involves leading legal strategy for various business transactions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and overseeing legal issues related to real estate and facility development. The General Counsel will also be instrumental in partnering with executive and departmental leaders to develop legal strategies that support ethical business practices and the long-term success of the organization. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, an active license to practice law in Maryland and Virginia, and a strong background in corporate, employment, and healthcare law. The role requires expertise in a variety of legal areas, including contract negotiation, and interpretation, and a comprehensive understanding of business structures, tax concepts, and real estate matters. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with a preference for those who have served as in-house counsel or General Counsel in complex organizations. Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple legal entities and operations across different jurisdictions.
