This role supports the manufacture of electrical components such as coils, transformers, motors, or similar assemblies while developing foundational technical and production skills.**Job Description**Role OverviewThe Winding Technician I performs routine winding and assembly tasks under close supervision, following standard work instructions and using basic winding equipment and tools. The role emphasizes learning proper techniques, material handling, and quality requirements while contributing to production output.This position does not have people‐management responsibility and typically reports to a Senior Winding Technician, Lead Technician, Manufacturing Supervisor, or Production Supervisor (S2–S3 / M1).Key ResponsibilitiesBasic Winding & Coil AssemblyPerform basic winding operations using manual or semi‐automatic winding equipmentWind wire, cable, or conductor material onto forms, cores, or bobbins per instructionsAssemble simple coils or sub‐assemblies as part of electrical componentsMaterial Preparation & SetupPrepare materials for winding, including wire setup, insulation placement, and component stagingAssist with equipment setup and adjustment under supervisionVerify correct materials and job requirements prior to executionQuality & WorkmanshipFollow winding specifications, patterns, and tension guidelinesInspect finished work for basic defects such as misalignment, damage, or incorrect turnsReport quality concerns or deviations promptlySafety & ComplianceFollow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and machine‐safety rulesHandle wire, tools, and materials safelyMaintain clean and organized workstationsDocumentation & Process AdherenceRead and follow work instructions, travelers, or basic drawingsComplete required production or quality documentationAdhere to standard operating procedures and quality requirementsEquipment & Tool CareUse winding equipment, hand tools, and measuring devices properlyPerform basic care and housekeeping of tools and machinesReport equipment issues or malfunctionsTeam & Production SupportWork cooperatively with other technicians, assemblers, and supervisorsSupport meeting daily production goals and schedulesAssist with general assembly or production tasks as assignedTraining & Skill DevelopmentLearn winding techniques, materials, and electrical component basicsParticipate in required training and skill‐development activitiesApply feedback to improve accuracy, efficiency, and qualityQualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred0–1 year of manufacturing, assembly, electrical, or winding experience preferredVocational training, technical coursework, or electrical assembly exposure preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBasic mechanical aptitude and manual dexterityAbility to follow instructions, procedures, and visual work guidesAttention to detail and qualityWillingness to learn technical processes and equipmentAbility to work in a production or manufacturing environmentPhysical ability to perform repetitive tasks safely**Additional Job Details**Support & Production – S1Organizational Impact• Works to deliver on day-to-day objectives with minor impact on achievement results for the team• Delivers job responsibilities following a defined standard output or set of procedures• Work consists of tasks that are routine, or well defined, with specific instructions to achieve standardized solutions• Work is closely supervisedCommunication & Influence• Communicates with contacts typically within immediate job area on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretationInnovation & Complexity• Responsible for checking data and information or troubleshooting when minor changes may be required based on review• Daily challenges faced are routine and solutions clearly prescribed• Follows a well-established and familiar set of activities and/or processes to derive a solutionLeadership & Talent Management• N/A – Jobs at this level are focused on self-developmentKnowledge & Experience• Requires limited job knowledge of systems and procedures.
