Growing together.The Sr. Analyst, Credit Strategy & Analytics will play a key role in building and optimizing credit strategies for Optum Bank's Small Business Line of Credit and card products. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with meaningful responsibility for translating data, customer behavior, and portfolio performance into scalable credit strategies.The position will focus primarily on Originations Strategy, Account Management Strategy, or a combination of both, based on business needs and the successful candidate's experience. The role will also collaborate across the full credit lifecycle to help establish an integrated approach to underwriting, exposure management, portfolio performance, customer experience, and risk governance.This is an opportunity to help build a new lending capability, influence strategy from an early stage, and develop analytical and decisioning frameworks that support responsible growth. The role will partner closely with Credit, Product, Risk, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and Technology to translate business objectives into implementable credit strategies.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and optimize credit strategies for Small Business Line of Credit and Card products, balancing growth, risk, profitability, and customer experienceDesign and manage credit policies, decision rules, risk segmentation, and strategy frameworks across the credit lifecycleAnalyze portfolio performance, utilization, delinquency, losses, profitability, and customer behavior to identify trends and recommend actionsDevelop and execute origination, authorization, and account management strategies, including underwriting, line assignment, exposure management, authorization controls, and line management actionsDesign, monitor, and evaluate strategy tests, champion/challenger initiatives, and policy enhancements to improve portfolio performanceCreate reporting, dashboards, and analytical frameworks to support executive decision-making and portfolio managementPartner with Product, Finance, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Technology teams to support product development and strategic initiativesPerform hands-on analytics using SQL and tools such as Python, SAS, R, or similar technologies to generate actionable insights and support credit strategy implementationSupport credit governance activities, policy documentation, Credit Committee materials, audits, examinations, and regulatory initiativesPresent findings, recommendations, opportunities, and emerging risks to senior leadership and key stakeholdersYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in credit strategy, credit risk, underwriting analytics, account management, portfolio management, or related disciplineExperience in small business, consumer, commercial, card, or other revolving credit productsWorking knowledge of automated underwriting, decisioning, or account management frameworksDemonstrated analytical skills using SQLExperience developing and interpreting credit policy, credit performance analytics, and risk strategiesAbility to translate analytical findings into clear recommendations and implementable business requirementsDemonstrated communication skills and the ability to collaborate with Credit, Risk, Product, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and TechnologyDemonstrated ability to identify automation opportunities and leverage AI to improve productivity and qualityPreferred Qualifications:Experience with Python/SAS/RExperience with Small Business Lines of Credit, Business Cards, SBA Lending, or other revolving and small business lending productsExperience specializing in either originations strategy or account management strategyExperience with credit line assignment, exposure management, utilization strategies, authorization strategy, or early warning frameworksExperience working with fintech lenders, data providers, credit bureaus, or third-party originatorsExposure to credit governance, audits, regulatory examinations, or issue remediation activitiesExperience supporting new product launches and growth stage lending programsExperience in small business financial assessment, cashflow analysis, or business credit data*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
