The Data Consultant plays a vital role in the success of the Early Childhood-12 team by supporting school districts in using data to strengthen instructional systems, educator effectiveness, and leadership practices that improve student outcomes across Dallas County. This position focuses on data analysis, dashboard development, project management, data visualization, and cross-functional collaboration to help districts make informed decisions and monitor progress toward shared goals.

Reporting to the EC-12 Senior Manager, the Data Consultant partners closely with colleagues across Early Learning, District Strategy & Partnerships, Analytics & Insights, and other Commit teams to translate complex education data into meaningful insights for district leaders and internal stakeholders. The role requires strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. The salary range for this role is $66,000–$78,500 annually .

Please note that for external candidates, the expected salary range is approximately $66,000-$72,000 depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. District Strategy and Continuous Improvement

• Support the EC-12 team in helping school districts strengthen instructional systems and improve student outcomes through data-informed planning and continuous improvement.
• Partner with consultants to organize, analyze, and synthesize district, campus, and student-level data that informs strategic conversations and progress monitoring.
• Prepare materials for district meetings, maintain project documentation, track implementation milestones, and ensure project deliverables are completed accurately and on time.

2. Data Analysis and Strategic Insights

• Analyze quantitative and qualitative education data to identify trends, opportunities, and root causes that support decision-making across Commit's EC-12 priorities, including early learning, academic readiness, rigorous instruction, educator effectiveness, and postsecondary readiness.
• Conduct analyses using multiple data sources, validate findings, and translate complex information into actionable insights that help internal teams and district partners improve educational outcomes.

3. Data Visualization and Communication

• Develop dashboards, reports, presentations, and other data visualization products that communicate complex information clearly and effectively for a variety of audiences.
• Tailor analyses and messaging to meet the needs of district leaders, internal leadership, community partners, and cross-functional teams, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and actionable.
• Support the development of executive summaries, presentation materials, and briefing documents that facilitate strategic conversations and informed decision-making.

4. Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Provide project management support across multiple district initiatives by coordinating timelines, maintaining project trackers, documenting action items, and monitoring deliverables.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across EC-12, Analytics & Insights, and other Commit teams to gather information, share project updates, and ensure work remains aligned across departments.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment by proactively communicating project status, identifying potential risks, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

5. Technical Analysis and Data Systems

• Utilize Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, and Snowflake) to organize, analyze, and communicate education data.
• Maintain data integrity across multiple projects by following established quality assurance processes, documenting analytical methodologies, and supporting the ongoing improvement of internal reporting systems and workflows.
• Continuously develop technical expertise and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and usability of data products.

6. Organizational Support

• Contribute to the success of the team by participating in team planning, supporting special projects, and assisting with the preparation of materials for meetings, convenings, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Demonstrate flexibility by supporting emerging organizational priorities and performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Policy, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or related field
• 2–3 years of experience in data analysis, analytics, consulting, education, nonprofit, government, or other mission-driven environments.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to organize multiple projects and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with education data.
• Experience supporting school districts, nonprofits, public agencies, or consulting organizations.
• Experience creating presentations and executive summaries.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies or project management practices.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment but may require travel to meetings, partner organizations, fundraising events, or community events. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

Physical Activity & Requirements

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
