Emergency Response Specialist

Job Purpose The Emergency Response Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of processes and procedures with regard to physical security and guard force operations, focusing on maintaining a safe and secure environment for associates, customers, vendors and visitors. The role primarily controls building access and responds to emergencies and incidents related to life safety and security on company property, and supports company events and travel for senior leadership as assigned. Essential Responsibilities Participate in the development of emergency response and incident management plans, guard force operations, and physical security programs. Control access to an assigned facility and ensure safety and security through timely response to emergency and security incidents. Conduct periodic patrols to assess for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, and compliance with established security protocols. Monitor entrances and exit points to prevent unapproved or unauthorized entry and facilitate the movement of people and vehicles. Respond to emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force in accordance with established protocols. Observe and report activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of property and personnel. Preserve order and enforce security policies and procedures regarding personnel and property. Observe and report incidents or suspicious activity to management and recommend solutions for resolution. Respond to incidents of workplace violence, security breaches, imminent threats to associates or the company, fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents. Provide top‑level protection for company leaders and other designated employees during business‑related travel, meetings, public appearances, and other professional engagements as assigned. Partner with internal teams on the planning and logistics around company‑sponsored events to ensure physical security matters and executive participation are adequately addressed. Provide logistical support to company leaders as required. Maintain absolute confidentiality and privacy in accordance with guidelines, policies, and applicable laws. Prepare written logs and reports as required. Other Duties Be willing to travel as necessary for planned and unplanned events to complete job responsibilities. Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of law enforcement response plans and the development of policies and practices related to physical security, guard force operations, emergency and incident planning and response, loss and incident reporting, and risk and threat assessment/analysis. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise, and audience‑appropriate written and oral reports for presentation up to the highest level in the corporation. Commitment to integrity and best practices. Availability to respond 24 hours per day and work flexible shifts as needed. Effective communication of technical issues both verbally and in writing. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Effective interpersonal skills and strong team orientation. Ability to perform the functions of the position (e.g., climb multiple flights of stairs in an emergency, stand/walk for long periods). Maintain proficiency in relevant protective services training. Exceptional situational awareness and decision‑making under pressure in business and public environments. Excellent follow‑up skills with attention to detail and ability to multi‑task. Leadership presence and flexibility. Ability to travel as needed. Ability to function as part of a team under challenging circumstances. Qualifications H.S. Diploma or equivalent required. 10+ years recent experience in a similar law enforcement role (may include Military Police). Possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) card and a Concealed Pistol License. Safely carry a Jackson‑approved firearm and demonstrate proficiency in its use. Be able to comply with all local and state licensing regulations required. Complete Jackson‑sponsored training. Valid state‑issued driver’s license and pass an annual vehicle background check. Submittable to pre‑employment and subsequent random drug screenings in accordance with company policy. Pass a pre‑hire psychological examination. Maintain required medical training, including American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification. Valid firearms license and LEOSA/CCW as required.
