Position: School Psychologist School Year: 2026-2027 Location: Roaring Fork School District Reports to: Special Education Director Classification: Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week) Contract Period: 185 working days Salary Range $56,809 - $87,909 (Based on education and years of relevant teaching experience)
The Roaring Fork School District (RFSD) offers full district paid employee health benefits, including medical, life, voluntary vision, dental, and dependent coverage. Position Overview
The school psychologist is responsible for consultation services, direct counseling services, program evaluation, specific assessments, and works in collaboration with various school teams to assist the District in its mission to ensure that every student develops the enduring knowledge, skills and character to thrive in a changing world.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a resource for general and special education staff to promote and implement academic and behavioral supports.
- Write behavior plans in conjunction with other pertinent team members (e.g. special education staff and parents) and assist with behavior interventions when deemed appropriate.
- Participate in the district Response to Intervention programs to assist with the facilitation and documentation of research-based methods for academic and behavioral supports.
- Administer, score and interpret necessary assessments (broad and focused) to assist in determining disabling conditions, and/or tiered programming for students according to State and Federal Regulations and according to District policies and procedures.
- Participate as members of special education teams and with the IEP process and share pertinent evaluation/observation information with parents, students, and agencies as appropriate.
- Provide direct psychological counseling services to targeted students.
- Meets all legal requirements, including timelines for professional practices in accordance with educational law and district policies and procedures.
- Provides group and individual therapy and services.
- Adapts services based on the academic, personal/social and career needs of students.
- Has knowledge of community/local services to assist students; uses knowledge of students' homes, community and school to implement, evaluate and adapt services.
- Utilizes materials and develops programming and services that honor diversity within the home, school and local and global communities based on culture, diverse demographics and socio-economic status.
- Plans and delivers services based on the synthesis of multiple sources of data related to student abilities, interests, skills and achievement.
Ideal Candidate Qualities
Knowledge of: Continuum of mental health services, including prevention and intervention strategies. Special education rules and regulations Standardized and non-standardized assessments Students with disabilities Knowledge of using data to promote student achievement Positive discipline and classroom management techniques Knowledge of deescalation and physical restraint techniques School, district and community resources Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulation English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation Modern office procedures and methods Principles of business and letter writing and basic report preparation Ability to: Advocate for therapy programs to all stakeholder groups Establish professional relationships within the school and the school community to enhance student achievement Work with diverse populations and cultures Respond to crisis across the district Make presentations as required Operate and use modern office equipment including a computer and various software packages Communicate effectively in written and oral form Collaborate with and make recommendations to students, parents and school personnel Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Education and Licensing Guidelines
Master's degree from an accredited college. School Psychologists must possess at a minimum a degree at the Masters level, and must hold or be working toward the appropriate Colorado Department of Educational licensure in School Psychology. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver's License. A minimum of one year experience in the counseling or mental health field is preferred.
Working Conditions Requires driving from site to site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The noise level is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Occasional lifting of 50 pounds or less. Lifts of 50 pounds or more will be a 2 person lift. May be required to lift, move or have the ability to position students as needed to provide services. Primary functions may require maintaining physical conditions necessary for traveling, sitting (including sitting on the floor), getting up and down from the floor, and standing for prolonged periods of time; use of a computer keyboard; light lifting; and carrying.
