PRIMARY PURPOSE
Oversee technical support for district events held in auditoriums and other performance venues. Provide support for stage performances, facility rentals, and districtwide events including graduation, football games, convocation, and other special events. Facilitate event rentals, supervise student technical workers, and manage district audio/visual needs.
QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of auditorium operations and related equipment
• Knowledge of professional lighting, sound production, and counterweight fly systems
• Knowledge of safety procedures in a performing arts environment including lifts and ladders
• Ability to manage and supervise students and staff
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and ability to support event planning functions including scheduling, coordination, logistics, and event execution
Experience:
• Three to five years of experience working in a professional or high school performing arts venue
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Productions
1. Maintain the auditorium calendar and make recommendations regarding event scheduling and staffing capacity.
2. Attend community events as assigned and supervise technicians, performers, and patrons.
3. Coordinate technical, logistical, and custodial support for events when unable to attend personally.
4. Facilitate district-related groups utilizing auditoriums and performance facilities.
Event Planning
1. Plan, coordinate, and execute districtwide events in alignment with district goals and protocols.
2. Manage event logistics including venue setup, audiovisual support, and accessibility accommodations.
3. Coordinate with district departments, campuses, vendors, and community partners to ensure successful event execution.
4. Develop event timelines, checklists, and run-of-show documents.
5. Monitor event budgets, process purchase requisitions, and ensure compliance with procurement procedures.
6. Oversee on-site event operations and resolve issues as they arise.
7. Communicate event details professionally to participants and stakeholders.
8. Evaluate completed events and provide recommendations for improvement.
Facilities Management and Responsibilities
1. Take necessary precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
2. Provide technical supervision and support to students, district staff, contractors, and rental clients utilizing auditorium facilities.
Technical Support
1. Oversee maintenance and physical plant operations for auditorium facilities.
2. Submit work orders and coordinate repairs with the maintenance department.
3. Support security and preservation of auditorium facilities and technical equipment.
4. Maintain audio, lighting, scene shop, mechanical, electrical, and computer systems.
5. Schedule and complete preventive maintenance and cleaning of technical systems.
6. Make recommendations regarding capital improvements and oversee approved projects.
7. Assist with use, maintenance, and inspection of lighting and sound equipment throughout district facilities.
Communication
1. Maintain positive and professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
2. Work cooperatively with campus and district administrators to support successful district productions and events.
Other
1. Assist in planning and administering the annual operating budget for auditorium and district technical equipment.
2. Prepare and publish Fine Arts newsletters highlighting staff and calendar updates.
3. Support district events including varsity football games, graduation, convocation, and other major functions.
4. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, and board policy related to technical productions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of student technical workers.
