This position will require travel between all stores which are currently in Troy, Clinton Twp, Livonia, St. Clair Shores and Bloomfield Twp. Responsible for instituting, evaluating and maintaining all standards of performance of Nino Salvaggio’s customer service departments. Assists Store Managers in the development and implementation of plans to properly train, maximize sales, increase accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities Ensures company, state and federal sanitation guidelines are followed in the front of the store. Ensures proper safety and sanitation procedures are followed. Ensure register areas are clean and in proper working order, work areas are being kept clean and uniforms are following company guidelines. Oversees and evaluates the accuracy and efficiency of cashiers and courtesy clerks. Evaluates reports on cashier items per minute and develops plans to ensure that all cashiers are ringing at least 20 items per minute. Ensure the cash handling procedures are being followed in the cash office, safes and register tills. Address issues that occur with cash handling and hold the staff accountable. Ensure items are being bagged correctly and efficiently keeping cost and quality of the bags in mind. Evaluate problem areas, areas of concern and potential problem areas and develop a Plan of Action to correct them to discuss with the department manager as well as the general manager. Must follow up to ensure that the areas are corrected or remedied. Assists with ensuring the Fresh to Go department is maintaining standards with delivering accurate orders to customers. Ensure efficient Customer Service Departments organizational structure by assisting with the recruitment, employment, development, and recommendation of potential candidates for promotion from within if capable. Adheres to all local, state and federal labor laws and OSHA and EEOC requirements ensuring that the work environment is safe and healthful and free from discrimination and harassment. Must be thoroughly familiar with and able to work with all products carried in the store including being fully knowledgeable in the differences (in price, taste, preparation or use) between the many varieties and types of items offered in the departments. Comply with Company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and memos, and state and federal safety and sanitation policies, procedures, guidelines and laws; ensure that all employees within the department comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the company handbook and memos, and state and federal safety and sanitation policies, procedures, guidelines and laws. Follows and ensures compliance with all Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace safety and foodservice sanitation programs and standards. Greets customers and provides them with prompt and courteous service and/or assistance, per our Company customer service standards. The ability to motivate department managers and associates to achieve company sales and customer service goals. Follow scheduled hours, store operating hours and labor guidelines as scheduled or assigned by the Operations Manager. Leads by example. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of “hands on” cash handling with a minimum of 3 years of management in a grocery store environment. Must be proficient in the cash register operating system. Applicants must have exceptional interpersonal and teaching skills to assist in production and set standards for product quality and professional conduct. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience in cash handling, product knowledge, customer service experience, etc. Experience in training and developing staff. Ability to communicate both verbal and written sufficient to express an idea or thought. Ability to motivate cashiers to maintain company goals in customer service and efficiency. Excellent knowledge of the products carried in the department. Excellent organizational skills (detail oriented, goal oriented, follow through). Great attitude (people skills, innovative, proactive). Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of department operations and a proven track record of success in the overall operation of the department.
