The Safety Operations Specialist is a versatile professional responsible for supporting safety operations, compliance activities, and strategic initiatives across the organization. This role oversees workers' compensation administration and other safety-related processes while serving as a key resource for special projects, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and capable of balancing day-to-day operational responsibilities with project-based work that supports the organization's safety and business objectives. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of workers' compensation claims administration, including claim reporting, communication with insurance carriers and third-party administrators, documentation management, and claim status tracking. Coordinate return-to-work and modified-duty programs to facilitate safe and timely team member reintegration following workplace injuries. Maintain OSHA compliance programs, including OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs, injury and illness recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting requirements. Assist with workplace incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and documentation. Monitor and maintain safety metrics, reports, dashboards, and compliance records. Support operations teams in the development, review, and continuous improvement of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and safe work procedures. Conduct periodic audits of safety documentation, records, and compliance processes. Assist in the coordination and administration of safety training programs and team member communications. Support departmental and cross-functional special projects, process improvement efforts, and strategic initiatives. Maintain confidential team member, medical, and claim-related information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements. Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety policies, programs, and procedures. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned to support organizational objectives. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Must have a valid driver’s license. Experience with OSHA, environmental health and safety, or related field (preferred). OSHA 10-hour certification (preferred). Experience in claims management (preferred). Knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and regulations (preferred). Ability to analyze data and metrics to develop reports and support continuous improvement. Strong problem solving, judgement, and decision-making skills. Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team. Experience supporting cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives. Must have project coordination and management experience. Must have exceptional time management, easily adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines, prioritizing, and multitasking skills. Must be a self-starter. Learn and maintain working knowledge of policies, procedures, and systems necessary for this role. Ability to travel, as needed. Ability to create a culture that promotes health and safety excellence. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook applications.
