Wood Finishing & Spray Technician
Rustic Trades – Canton, GA
Rustic Trades is seeking an experienced Furniture Finisher & Spray Technician to join our growing team! We build high-end custom furniture for residential and commercial spaces and need a detail-driven professional to bring each piece to a flawless final finish.
As our Finishing Technician, you will be responsible for preparing, staining, and spraying furniture pieces to the highest quality standards before shipping and installation. You will work with a variety of finishes including stains, sealers and topcoats (lacquer, conversion varnish, polyurethane, etc). This position plays a crucial role in ensuring our craftsmanship is showcased in its best form.
Key Responsibilities
Perform final prep on wood surfaces including sanding, edge profiling, and patching as needed
Mix, match, and apply stains, paints, and clear finishes according to customer specifications and shop samples
Spray finish products with HVLP and other professional spray equipment in a controlled booth environment
Conduct quality checks between all finishing stages to ensure color consistency and surface perfection
Maintain detailed finishing records, formulas, and labels for repeatability
Perform touch-ups, repairs, and finish blending when required
Maintain equipment, clean guns/hoses, replace filters, and ensure proper booth ventilation & safety procedures
Organize finishing area and ensure safe handling and storage of flammable materials
Collaborate closely with Production Manager and Builders to achieve on-time completion of all orders
Follow weekly production schedules to support 2-4week lead time goals
Qualifications
Experience in furniture, cabinet, or millwork finishing required (1–3+ years preferred)
Proficient with HVLP or similar spray systems
Some color and stain-matching skills and understanding of different wood species
Ability to troubleshoot finish issues such as fisheyes, orange peel, and adhesion problems
Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely
High attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
Willingness to learn, problem-solve, and contribute to a positive team culture

Full-time | Monday–Thursday
8:00 AM – 5:00/6:00 PM (4-day work week, M-TH)Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour based on experience & talent
Benefits: Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays
Expected Hours: 35-40 per week
