Ability to pass computer skills test##### Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics1. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records2. Ability to work accurately with attention to detail3. Ability to address and resolve patron conflicts equitably4. Ability to retain and follow circulation department policies and procedures5. Proficient in the use of the Integrated Library System (ILS)6. Ability to meet circulation department standards for shelving and sorting##### Physical Demands1. Ability to sit and use computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment, daily2. Ability to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds, daily3. Ability to push book trucks with up to 150 pounds of materials on them, daily4. Ability to stand for extended periods, daily5. Ability to perform repeated reaching, bending, climbing and squatting, daily#### Schedule* Sunday (every 3rd): 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm* Monday: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm* Tuesday: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm* Wednesday: OFF* Thursday: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm* Either a Friday or Saturday each week (based on a rotating schedule): 9:00 am - 6:00 pmLocationNorthwest Library#### PurposeUnder direct supervision, the Circulation Assistant serves patrons at the circulation desk and processes circulating materials.#### Essential Position Functions1. Assists patrons with library card accounts and resolves account disputes2. Proactively provides customer service by assisting patrons with the Public Access Catalog (PAC), checking-out, self check-outs, copiers, printers, scanners, fax machines and locating or retrieving materials accurately and efficiently3. Answers questions and assists patrons in the use of library resources at various service points including phones and pick-up window4. Receives and shelves materials with accuracy and timeliness5. Checks in and sorts returned materials accurately and efficiently6. Receives, retrieves, and processes items for both incoming and outgoing delivery7. Processes various reports, as assigned8. Maintains shelves throughout location, including shelf reading, shifting material, merchandising items, and straightening items or shelves9. Prepares location for opening and closing by straightening furniture and shelves, re-shelving loose materials, restocking displays and picking up debris10.
